【History of the product】

Kanazawa's 450-year tradition of gold leaf Kanazawa accounts for more than 98% of Japan's gold leaf production.

Gold leaf is used for temples and shrines of great historical value, such as Kinkakuji Temple and Nikko Toshogu Shrine, as well as for lacquerware, pottery, and various other crafts. Gold leaf has developed along with 36 other traditional crafts that have been handed down since the time of Lord Toshiie Maeda, the founder of the Kaga Domain. Kanazawa foil, which was a material, is now recognized as a Kanazawa foil craft today and has established itself as a representative traditional craft in the craft kingdom of Kanazawa."

 【Features and Design】

A masterpiece by Katsushika Hokusai, a world-renowned ukiyoe woodblock print artist, is incorporated into the glass tray.

 

Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849)]
Ukiyoe artist of the late Edo period. He painted pictures of actors, beautiful women, and sashie, and also studied the painting styles of the Kano, Tosa, and Rimpa schools, as well as Chinese and Western styles. He achieved a unique style of painting through his compositional, powerful, and dynamic brushwork. His influence extended to the French Impressionists. His representative works include “Hokusai Manga,” “Fugaku Sanjurokkei (Thirty-six Views of Mt. Fuji),” and “Sen-e no Umi (Sea of a Thousand Pictures).

Triumphant Wind
Triumphant wind refers to the southern wind. This work depicts the phenomenon of Fuji turning red in the early morning sun from late summer to early autumn, and is popular both in Japan and abroad as an auspicious motif.

Kanagawa Okinamiura
This is a view of Mt. Fuji from present-day Yokohama, and as a representative work of Japanese ukiyoe, it is also a well-known work that is highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally. The composition of a boat heading out to the violent sea and Fuji standing quietly in the background is captivating.
